1253. Indefinite Pronouns – somebody, someone

An indefinite pronoun takes the place of a noun.
The words somebody and someone are indefinite pronouns.
Use these pronouns when you don’t know exactly who you are speaking about.

I need someone to help me.
I hope somebody hears my cry for help.

Use the indefinite pronouns somebody and someone to replace a non-specific noun in a sentence. The words somebody and someone mean the same thing and are interchangeable.
