About Me

I’m passionate about teaching writing and grammar. I have a B.A. in English and M.A. in Teaching, both from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. My two Illinois state teaching licenses certify me to teach elementary grades, middle school language arts, and high school English.

My classroom experience is wide and varied; I’ve worked with at-risk kindergarteners, preparing them for first grade; I’ve taught first and second grades, middle school language arts, and high school English; and I’ve helped community college ESL students  improve their writing skills. Through the years, students have often mentioned they learned more about grammar in my classroom than in any other. Their words inspired me to write this blog.

I’m also a published writer. My poems, articles, and stories have appeared in several magazines, including Highlights, Ladybug, Babybug, and Family Connection.
