An adverb is a word that modifies a verb. An adverb tells more about the action.
An adverb usually sits right next to the verb. Look at these examples of an adverb:
The dog barked loudly.
Jan walked slowly.
I quickly raised my hand.
In each sentence, the adverb tells more about how the action was performed.
