984. Two-word Prepositions

A preposition shows position. A preposition is always the first word of a prepositional phrase. Sometimes a preposition is made up of two words. Look at these examples of a preposition:
next to, underneath, without, inside of, out of, in front of, in back of

I sat next to my dad.
The cat is underneath the sofa.
He’s hiding inside of the box.
The book fell out of my car.
Plant the flowers in front of the bushes.

Some prepositions are made up of two words.
