523. Sentence Purpose: The Exclamatory Sentence

An exclamatory sentence is a sentence that shows excitement. The verb exclaim means to say something with strong emotion and excitement, so that is why we call this an exclamatory sentence. Always use an exclamation point (!) at the end of an exclamatory sentence.

Some exclamatory sentences show happy excitement:
I’m so happy to see you!

Some exclamatory sentences show danger:
The stove is on fire!

Some exclamatory sentences show fear:

Some exclamatory sentences show surprise:

Some exclamatory sentences show anger:

An exclamatory sentence shows excitement and ends with an exclamation point.
