1181. An Adjective Modifies a Noun

We know that a noun is a word that names a person, a place, a thing, or an idea. An adjective is a word placed in front of a noun to tell more about the noun. We say that an adjective modifies a noun.

Here are some examples:
a good book – book is the noun. good tells more about the book
a red dress – dress is the noun. red tells more about the dress
a scary movie – movie is the noun. scary tells more about the movie.

Use an adjective to tell more about a noun. An adjective modifies a noun.
