1127. Punctuation – the Exclamation Point

An exclamation is a statement of excitement or fear. We use an exclamation point (!) at the end of a sentence showing excitement or fear.

Look at these examples of sentences showing excitement:
I won the contest!
Today is my birthday!
John scored the winning touchdown!

Here are examples showing fear:
Watch out for the speeding car!
Our puppy ran away!
The thunder is scary!
