846. Possessive Pronouns – your, yours

A pronoun is a word that stands in for a noun. Instead of using a person’s name, you can use the pronoun for that person. The word you is a pronoun. If I want to show that you own something, I can say that this is your dog. Therefore, the dog is yours. The word your is an adjective that describes dog. The word yours is a pronoun.

I like your new car. The new car is yours.
Is this your dog? Is this dog yours?
May I borrow your phone? This phone is yours.

Use the word your with a noun to show ownership of the noun. your house Use the word yours in place of the object that is owned. house is yours
