859. Confusing Verbs – Resign and Re-sign

The verb resign means to help your self make peace with a situation.
I will resign myself to the fact that the picnic has been rained out.
George has to resign himself to the idea that he will not go to college this year.

The verb re-sign with the hyphen in the middle is used when someone signs again.
John will re-sign the contract since the first copy was lost.
