822. Adjectives Become Adverbs with -ly

An adjective modifies a noun. a slow bus; a happy child; an angry man; a joyful celebration

An adverb modifies a verb. We can change the adjective to an adverb by adding -ly. The adverb tells more about the verb.
The bus drove slowly down the street.
The child played happily.
The man stalked angrily across the room.
The team joyfully celebrated their win.

Here are more adjectives that change to an adverb by adding –ly:
anxious – anxiously
bashful – bashfully
careful – carefully
foolish – foolishly
perfect _ perfectly
sudden – suddenly
wrong – wrongly
quiet – quietly
loud – loudly
