Some past tense verbs look just like the present tense form of the verb.
Here are some of those verbs that stay the same:
cut, hit, put, hurt, spread, shut
Today I cut my bread into star shapes. Yesterday I cut my bread into squares.
Today I hurt from doing yard work. Yesterday I hurt my finger with a scissors.
Today I spread jelly on my break. Yesterday I spread peanut butter on my bread.
I hit the baseball very hard in practice. Yesterday I hit the ball hard during our game.
Certain verbs have the same spelling for both present tense and past tense.
