801. Some Past Tense Verbs Change the Vowel

Some irregular past tense verbs change the vowel when going from present tense to past tense.
run – ran
give – gave
drink – drank
sing – sang
ring – rang
begin – began
swim – swam

Today I swim. Yesterday I swam in the lake.
I like to drink milk. Yesterday I drank soda.
I sing in the choir. Last year I sang with the orchestra.
We run laps around the track in gym class. We ran a race yesterday.

Certain verbs change the vowel to make past tense.
