A simple sentence is the most basic form of a sentence. A simple sentence is made up of one independent clause. The independent clause has one subject and one verb. One person or thing is doing one action.
Look at this simple sentence: Mom bakes cookies every Tuesday.
The subject of the sentence is Mom. Mom is the person doing the action in the sentence.
The verb in the sentence is bakes.
The other words in the sentence tell us what Mom bakes (cookies) and when she bakes (every Tuesday).
But the basic simple sentence with a subject and a verb tells us that Mom bakes.
