459. Brand Names are Proper Nouns

A brand name is the name of a product or the product’s company.
Kleenex is a brand of facial tissue.
Crisco is a brand of cooking oil.
Duncan Hines is a brand of baking mixes.
Prairie Farms is a brand of dairy products.
Spaulding is a brand of sporting goods.

We capitalize these brand names, even in the middle of a sentence.
I bought a Spaulding baseball glove.
Mom uses Crisco oil in her cakes.
She likes to bake with Betty Crocker cake mixes.
Our local grocery store carries Dean’s dairy products.

Always capitalize brand names because brand names are proper nouns.
