998. Adjectives Show Color and Shape

We use an adjective to modify a noun. Sometimes we modify a noun by telling its color or its shape.

Color words can be used as an adjective.
Here are sentences where the adjective tells more about a noun’s color.
I like my blue coat.
The red car is mine.
A yellow light tells us to slow down and stop.

In these sentences, the adjective tells more about the shape of the noun.
Put these utensils into a rectangular box.
That round tent can hold lots of people.
The square shape makes the living room look interesting.

Use an adjective to tell more about the color or the shape of a noun. All color words and shape words are adjectives.
