914. Confusing Verbs – Resign and Re-sign

The verb resign is used when someone walks away from a job or a position.
Bob will resign from his administrative job.
I need to resign from my position as club chairman.

The verb re-sign is used when someone writes their signature a second time. They sign again.
I need to re-sign that document because water got spilled on it.
We will re-sign our will after making some changes.
