892. Stop Punctuation-the Question Mark

We use stop punctuation to end a sentence, telling the reader that a thought is now complete. When the complete thought is a question – an asking sentence – we use a question mark as stop punctuation. The question mark signals that the asking sentence is complete.

Here are some examples of the question mark being used as stop punctuation:
Where are you going?
Did you feed the dog?
Why is that light flashing?
Whose car is that?

Use a question mark as stop punctuation when you end a complete thought that asks a question.

▶It’s your turn. Read these two sentences. Then put a question mark at the end of the sentence that asks a question. Where are my keys I can’t find my keys Did you figure out that the first sentence needs a question mark? Good for you!
