797. Past Tense Verbs – irregular

Many verbs add the letters -ed to show past tense. If the verb already ends in -e, we only add the -d to the end of the verb.
bake – baked
cope – coped
file – filed

Yesterday, Mom baked a pie.
My sister coped with the pain of a broken foot.
The manicurist filed my nails.

If a verb already ends in the letter -e, you only need to add a -d to make the verb past tense.

▶It’s your turn: Change the present tense verb to past tense for the blank in the second sentence. Today we vote for a new secretary. Lasted week we _____ for a treasurer. Did you figure it out? Good for you!
