796. Past Tense Verbs

A past tense verb tells what happened in the past. The past can be two second ago, or the past can be many years ago. Anything that happened before right now is the past.

Regular past tense verbs add the letters -ed to the end of the word to show past tense.
jump – jumped
park – parked
help – helped
play – played

Today the girls jump rope. Yesterday the girls jumped rope.
Dad parks the car in the driveway. Last night, Dad parked the car in the garage.
I help Mom in the kitchen. Yesterday I helped Mom bake a cake.
My brothers play basketball in the yard. Last week they played soccer.

Add the letters -ed to the end of a regular verb when making the verb past tense.
