793. Present Tense Verbs with a Plural Noun

A plural noun is a word that names more than one thing. We usually add the letter -s to a noun to make it plural.
Two dogs. Five students. Three boys.

Because the plural noun ends in -s, the present tense verb for a plural noun does not have an -s.
The two dogs bark every night.
The five students listen carefully.
Those three boys run races.

Present tense verbs do not end in -s when used with a plural noun.

▶It’s your turn. Write the correct present tense plural verb form into the blank. My dog barks. The neighbor’s dogs ____. Did you write the plural verb without an –s? Good for you!
