744. Proper Adjectives

A proper adjective is a describing word made from a proper noun. Look at these examples of a proper noun that changes into a proper adjective:
America is a noun.
American is an adjective.
We hang an American flag in front of our house every summer.
American modifies the noun flag.

Japan is a noun.
Japanese is an adjective.
Sandra wears a Japanese kimono on her birthday.
Japanese modifies the noun kimono.

A proper noun can be changed to a proper adjective. Always capitalize a proper adjective.
