Most nouns add -s or -es to become plural, but a few nouns actually change their form when plural.
Here are some examples of plural nouns that do not end in -s:
one child – two children
one mouse – two mice
one man – two men
one woman – two women
one goose – two geese
one calf – two calves
one loaf – two loaves
one foot – two feet
one tooth – two teeth
Certain nouns change their form when becoming plural. It’s good to learn these irregular plural nouns.
▶It’s your turn. Change the single noun in the first sentence into a plural noun in the second sentence. Mom found a mouse in the kitchen yesterday. Today, I saw two ____ in the kitchen. Did you figure it out? Good for you!
