732. Plural Nouns add -s

A singular noun is one person, place, or thing. A plural noun is more than one. Most nouns add -s when they become plural. Look at these examples:
one dog – two dogs
one cat – two cats
one horse – two horses
one duck – two ducks
one school – two schools

Nouns that end in –s, -z, -ch, -sh, and x add -es when they are plural. Look at these examples:
one bus – two buses
one fuzz – two fuzzes
one church – two churches
one bush – two bushes
one fox – two foxes

Add -s to most nouns when making them plural. Be sure to add -es if the noun ends in -s, -z, -ch, -sh, -x.

▶It’s your turn. Write the correct form of the plural noun into the blank of the second sentence. My sister has a cat, and my brother has a cat, so we have two ______ in our house. That wasn’t too hard, was it?
