708. Interrogative Sentences

An interrogative sentence asks a question. Instead of beginning with a subject, as we do in a declarative sentence, the interrogative sentence begins with part of a verb. Look at these examples:
Did you close the door? You did close the door.
Will you take a walk with me? You will take a walk with me.
Can I borrow some sugar? I can borrow some sugar.
Do you want some help? I do want some help.
Are you hungry? We are hungry.

Sometimes an interrogative sentence begins with one of the question words – where, what, when, why, who, how
Where is the rake?
What will we cook for dinner?
When can we eat?
Why are you crying?
Who is ringing the bell?
How old are you?

An interrogative sentence asks a question. Always use a question mark at the end of an interrogative sentence.
