We put quotation marks on both sides of a poem title.
“Stopping by Woods on Snowy Evening”
“The Road Not Taken”
“O Captain! My Captain!”
We also put quotation marks on both sides of a short story title:
“The Tell-Tale Heart”
“The Monkey’s Paw”
“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”
When you insert a poem title or a short story title into a sentence, be sure to put quotation marks around the title, like this:
We read Poe’s famous story, “The Tell-Tale Heart,” in English class last year.
I love the poem “Daffodils” by William Wordsworth.
Always put quotation marks around poem titles and short story titles.
