601. Using the Contraction for Will Not

We talked last week about making contractions with the adverb not. Usually we just push the two words together and replace the o in not with an apostrophe.
did not = didn’t
could not = couldn’t
can not = can’t
should not = shouldn’t
have not = haven’t
are not = aren’t

Making a contraction with the auxiliary verb will is a little different
will not = won’t
John will not help me. John won’t help me.
We will not have school today. We won’t have school today.

Use the word won’t as a contraction for the words will not.

▶Now you try it. Change this sentence by making two of the words into a contraction. I will not be at practice today. That wasn’t too difficult was it?
