592. Adverbs of Time Tell When an Action Occurs

Adverbs modify the action in a sentence. Some adverbs tell when the action happened. We call these adverbs of time.

Here are some common adverbs that tell when:
now, then, later, sometimes, often, seldom, first, next, soon, daily, weekly, today, tomorrow

When writing a sentence. Place the adverb as close as possible to the verb that it modifies.
We will play softball tomorrow.
I often sing while doing chores.
I will rake first, and I will mow next.
The boys sometimes yell during recess.

Adverbs that tell when something happens are called Adverbs of Time.
