573. Future Tense with Linking Verbs

A linking verb uses a form of the verb to be and links the subject to another noun (a predicate noun) or to an adjective (a predicate adjective). For future tense with linking verbs, we usually use the verbs will be.

Here are some examples of future tense with a linking verb and a predicate noun:
I will be a teacher some day.
John will be a football player.
My dog will be a mother when she has her puppies.
The girls will be roommates in college.

These are examples of future tense with a linking verb and a predicate adjective:
The boys will be hungry when they get home.
My dog will be bigger when she grows up.
The stars will be brighter after sunset.
The corn stalks will be tall by August.

Make a future tense linking verb by using the words will be. A linking verb connects to a predicate noun or a predicate adjective.
