436. The Pronoun as an object – to me

The word to is a preposition. In the prepositional phrase to me, the word me is an object of the preposition.

Things happen to me.
Mary told a joke to me.
Mom sent a letter to me.
Dad is giving advice to me.

If someone is included with me, then things happen to both of us. But they still happen to me.
Mary told a joke to Mike and me.
Mom sent a letter to my sister and me.
Dad is giving advice to David and me.

Remember: Things happen to me. When I am with someone, things happen to them and me.
