332. Contraction for Will Not

We talked yesterday about contractions with the adverb not.
do not = don’t
does not = doesn’t
can not = can’t

For each of these contractions, we bumped the two words together and took out the o in not.

Here is one more contraction using the adverb not:
will not = won’t
This is the only contraction that changes the spelling of the original words.

When you make a contraction with will not, it becomes won’t.

  • Now you try it. Change two words in this sentence into a contraction. James says he will not pay for the broken window. Did you do it? Good for you.
