1171. Noun as the Subject

A noun is a word that names a person, a place, a thing, or an idea. One way that we use the noun in writing is as the subject of a sentence. The subject is the thing that the sentence is about.

Here are examples of a noun as the subject of a sentence:
Bob is a teacher. The sentence is about Bob.
My dog ran away. The sentence is about dog.
Winter seems especially harsh this year. The sentence is about winter.

Use a noun as the subject of a sentence.
