When writing a friendly letter, you use a comma in the greeting and the closing.
At the start of a letter, you write Dear Mom, or Dear Grandpa, as a greeting before continuing the letter.
At the end of the letter, you use a closing like Sincerely, or Love, before signing your name.
Your letter will look something like this:
Dear Dad,
I am having fun at camp.
Love, John
Notice the two places that you used a comma.
In a friendly letter, begin the letter with a greeting, followed by a comma. End the letter with a closing, followed by a comma.
It’s your turn. Where in this friendly letter would you place two commas?
Dear Grandma
I hope you can come to my baseball game.
Your grandson Jimmy
Did you figure it out? Good for you!
