A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. The pronoun I replaces the name of the person speaking. The pronoun you takes the place of the name of the person being spoken to.
If Bob is talking to his mother, he would probably not say, “Bob loves Mom.”
Bob would use pronouns and say, “I love you.”
The pronoun I replaces Bob’s name when he is speaking.
The pronoun you replaces Mom’s name when he is speaking to her.
Use the pronoun I when speaking about yourself. Use the pronoun you when speaking directly to someone else.
It’s your turn. Write a sentence in which you use the pronouns I and you. Did you figure it out? Good for you!
