1063. Contractions with Am/Are

A contraction is a word made by pushing two words together and removing a few letters. An apostrophe replaces the missing letters. When we make a contraction with the words am and are, we take out the a.
I am = I’m
you are = you’re
we are = we’re
they are = they’re

I am a teacher.
I’m a teacher.

Use the words am and are to form contractions.

It’s your turn. Make a contraction out of these words – we are. Now use the contraction in this sentence: My dad told me ______ going on a fishing trip next week. Did you figure it out? Good for you!
